ORCA FUNDRAISER RULES
Overview- Our Indoor Triathlon is based on the distance you get within the allotted time per each discipline. Transition times are fixed and do not count toward participants scores. Transition times are 5 minutes to allow for a safe transition between each discipline. If you are not in the designated area for your next discipline the time is fixed and will start without you. Participants will be body marked at check in with a marker. Remember your number to give to the counters at each discipline.(in case it gets worn off)
In the Pool – Participants will swim for 10 minutes, only full lengths will be counted(must touch a wall at end of time for lap to count) Each wave will start at the designated time(if your late you don’t get to make up the time missed). All Participants will start in the pool at the designated start finish side. Participants are allowed to stop if they need to rest. When the 10 minutes has ended the 5 minute transition time will begin.
T1(Transition 1, swim to bike) – Participants will have 5 minutes from the ending of the swim time to go change into cycling/running attire and get the cycling room. This will be done in a safe and controlled manner- NO RUNNING
Cycling(Spin Bikes) – Participants will bike for 20 minutes. Each bike will have a power console that tracks distance. The spin bikes can be adjusted for comfort by the participant. At the end of 20 minutes, volunteers will record the total distance based on your bikes computer. Spin bikes have cages on one side of the pedal and SPD clip ins on the other side. Cycling shoes can be worn if they fit properly in the pedals.
T2(Transition to Run) – Participants will have 5 minutes from the ending of the cycling to safely go to the treadmills. NO RUNNING between disciplines Treadmill Run – Participants will run for 20 minutes on a treadmill. Participants will not start before the start signal. All Participants will stop their treadmill at the end of 20 minutes. Participants must remain on the belt of the treadmill for the entire 20 minutes, you can vary the speed of the belt as needed. If you stop early and step off the belt, your distance will be recorded at the point you stopped. Otherwise volunteers will record your distance at the end of the 20 minutes.
AWARDS – After the final wave has finished and all distances have been calculated, the winners will be announced and placed on the Oneonta YMCA facebook page and website.
